Invite Details for Gmail
Chrome extension
Privacy Policy
In brief
Invite Details for Gmail reads the calendar invitation in an email you open in Gmail and displays its meeting details on the same page. All processing takes place in your browser. The extension does not collect, store, sell or transmit any of your information.
1.Scope
This policy describes how the Invite Details for Gmail browser extension (the "Extension") handles information. It applies only to the Extension and not to Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or any other service, each of which is governed by its own privacy policy.
2.Information the Extension accesses
When you open an email in Gmail that contains a calendar invitation, the Extension reads that email's content in order to locate the invitation (an iCalendar or .ics part). From the invitation it reads the meeting title, location, description and any joining details, such as a meeting link, meeting ID, passcode and dial-in number.
The Extension accesses only emails that you open, and only to find the invitation. It does not read other emails, contacts, attachments unrelated to invitations, or any data outside Gmail.
3.How the information is used
The information is used for a single purpose: to display the meeting details in a panel above the email you are viewing. It is not used for advertising, profiling, analytics, model training, creditworthiness or any other purpose. The Extension does not modify, send, delete or label any email.
4.Storage and retention
The Extension stores nothing. Invitation details exist only in the memory of the open Gmail tab and are discarded when you navigate away or close the tab. The Extension does not use cookies, local storage, sync storage or any database, and keeps no logs.
5.Disclosure to third parties
The Extension does not sell, rent, share or otherwise transfer any information to third parties. It operates no servers and includes no analytics, advertising or tracking code. The only network requests it makes are to Google's own Gmail addresses, using your existing signed-in session, to retrieve the email you are already viewing.
6.Browser permissions
The Extension requests the minimum permissions needed for its purpose:
| Permission | Reason |
|---|---|
mail.google.com | To detect an open email containing an invitation, read that email's content, and display the meeting details on the page. |
mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com | Gmail serves .ics attachments from this address. The Extension retrieves the invitation file from here only when it cannot be read from the email itself. |
7.Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received through the Extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
8.Security
Because no information leaves your browser or is retained, there is no stored data that could be exposed. All requests made by the Extension use encrypted HTTPS connections to Google, and the panel only creates links to secure web addresses and phone numbers.
9.Children
The Extension is not directed to children and does not knowingly process information from children under 13.
10.Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the Extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
11.Questions
Questions about this policy may be submitted through the support section of the Extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
